Gateway School Hours:
First Bell 7:45 am
Tardy Bell / School Starts 7:50 am
School Dismissed 2:55 pm

New for 2010-2011
New school hours: One of the outcomes from the district budget meetings was the obvious need to reduce transportation costs. Elementary, middle school, and high school students will be sharing the same buses. The Woodland Park High School will also be starting at 7:50 am. We will open the gate from Rampart Range to the playground before and after school for students to pass through. The gate will only be open when the ditch is dry. The gate will be locked if there is water or snow in the ditch. Families will now be able to drop off and pick up at the front of the school or from the playground. We will have supervision at both places.
Recess before lunch: We will be joining the other elemetnary schools and the middle school in having a recess before lunch. Research has shown that students digest food better and are more attentive during afternoon classroom instruction when they have recess before lunch.
No microwaves for student use: Due to change of recess before lunch, students will now have a tighter time line to eat. We have been carefully monitoring student microwave use and frequently there are many students who have a very short amount of time to eat based on heating time and wait time. Since students will now be returning to the class after eating, their eating time will be right at 20 minutes. We want our students to have a sufficient amount of time to complete their meal. Chartwells food service provides a well balanced, tasty hot meal each day. We encourage you to utilize this service if you would like your child to have a hot meal.
