Happy New Year! 

I will be excited to see all the students back after winter break! We have a busy quarter ahead; please refer to the school calendar.

Progress Reports will be sent home on Wed. Jan. 11, 2012.  Please look for these important academic and social updates coming home in a large manila envelope.  As always, if you have any questions regarding your student’s Progress Report, please contact his/her teacher. 

Our physical address for the school changed this past fall. Many of you noticed the new signage out front on the awning. Gateway Elementary is now 100 Panther Way. Please make note of this in your records. The entire loop extending up to Woodland Park High School and District Office has been renamed Panther Way. 

Strong Minds: This is an exciting time academically for all students!  As educators, we see this time of year as a great opportunity for academic growth.  With the majority of the holidays behind us and a good block of time before spring break, we are able to strengthen skills and continue to meet individual student needs. We appreciate your consistent support of your child’s learning including daily homework, reading, plenty of sleep, and a healthy diet!! 

Strong Bodies: We believe that active students and adults are happier and perform better in school.  Mr. Holmes provides a very comprehensive physical education program for all students here at Gateway.  This year we are lucky to have a fall running club, Flat 14er’s, and After School Sports. Soon to come in February will be Jump Rope for Heart. Our local Park and Recreation also provides wonderful activities to keep us on the move. 

Strong Character:  Mr. Davis led our students in guidance lessons around showing kindness, caring and fairness to others.  Each day through the month of December we read stories of our students caring beyond themselves over the morning announcements.  There were so many touching stories, we will continue on reading a few each morning.  What thoughtful and loving students we have here at Gateway!
